Taylorsville, Mississippi is a thriving growing town located in the southeastern part of Smith County in the South Central part of the state. Taylorsville is located on State Highways 37, 28, 531, and is approximately 20 miles northwest of Laurel, 40 miles northeast of Hattiesburg, and 65 miles southeast of Jackson in Hinds County.

The Town of Taylorsville owns West Taylorsville Industrial Park with industries operating in the area, among them Georgia Pacific, Warmkraft, The Solar Group, (now the largest mailbox manufacturer in the US), Remy Reman, API, Bryant's Meats, Southern Chlorinator. Taylorsville is the location for most of the industry in Smith County.

The Smith County Economic Development District and Mayor Rosalyn Glenn and the Board of Aldermen of Taylorsville invite any individual, business and industrial firm desiring an excellent location to visit and investigate the Town of Taylorsville and see what we have to offer. The people in Taylorsville believe there is no better place to live and work. Taylorsville has a resident population of 1,380, and a workday population of 7,000.

Taylorsville formed a Chamber of Commerce in late 2009, an organization working to improve the quality of life and prosperity of the town and to help business, industry and community.They have developed an Annual Grillin' & Chillin' Festival, (now in its third year. The chamber meets on the second Monday of each second month. Officers are: Newt Ishee, President - Darrell Temple, VP - Marion Dollar, Sec - and Diane Thompson Treasurer.

Taylorsville Schools offer quality education and a well rounded selection of electives, clubs, as well as vocational classes and training, and a well known sports program.

Taylorsville is fortunate and pleased to provide a location for the Adult Education Center for Smith County. We want everyone to know about this learning center and the benefits it can provide. The adult ed center, an extension of Jones County Junior College, offers free help to those seeking their GED. The Smith County center has 13 students who successfully achieved this honor. There are also computer classes taught that provide some skills to help workers get and advance in their present positions.
With the industry and business in Taylorsville and Smith County, we can help people prepare themselves for jobs and promotions by helping them learn the computer skills needed for employment.

Exciting, competitive varsity sports is a long-standing tradition at Taylorsville High School. Our strong athletic program has produced many fine athletes and championship teams.
